DESCRIPTION:Celebrating the contemporary literary life of Cork\, Gr inne McGuinness in discussion with Billy O'Callaghan\, Catherine Kirwan\, and Gr inne Murphy\n\n \n\nBilly O'Callaghan is the author of four short story collections and three novels\, most recently Life Sentences (published in 2021 by Jonathan Cape and recently in the US by David R. Godine). Winner of a Bord G is Energy Irish Book Award and shortlisted for the COSTA Short Story Award and the Royal Society of Literature's Encore Award among numerous other honours\, his work has been translated into over a dozen languages.\n\n \n\nCatherine Kirwan grew up in County Waterford. She studied law at UCC and lives in Cork where she works as a solicitor. Her first book\, Darkest Truth\, a crime novel featuring Cork solicitor Finn Fitzpatrick\, was Cork City Libraries' 'One City One Book' in 2019. Catherine's second crime novel\, Cruel Deeds\, is out now from Hachette Ireland.\n\n \n\nGr inne Murphy is a Cork-based writer of novels and short stories. Her debut novel\, Where the Edge Is\, was published in 2020 by Legend Press\, followed by The Ghostlights in 2021. Gr inne was a joint winner of the Irish Writers' Centre Novel Fair in 2019\, has been shortlisted for the Caledonia Novel Award\, the BPA First Novel Award\, the Luke Bitmead Bursary\, and the Virginia Prize for Fiction. In 2021\, In 2021 he was longlisted for the Sunday Times Audible Short Story Award\, and nominated for both the Pushcart Prize and Best of the Net. Her third novel is forthcoming in October 2022.\n\nThere will be a drinks reception and book signings at 8pm\, following the launch of Philip Watson's biography of musician Bill Frisell at 7pm.
