SUMMARY:Behind The Curtain : The Corner House Session – Presented by The Everyman and Islander
DESCRIPTION:The Everyman and Islander are thrilled to launch Behind The Curtain\, a new collaboration welcoming audiences behind the curtains of our city's heartlands of music in a series of live streamed Friday night sessions. Behind The Curtain presents the music and atmosphere of Cork that we all know and love so well.\n\n\n\nIn the first of the series of live streamed Friday night sessions\, coming direct from The Corner House itself\, we bring together some of the city's finest traditional musicians. Hosted by Blaith n MacGabhann\, we welcome you to sit back and enjoy the musical mastery of Eoin Riabhaigh (Pipes)\; Con Fada Drisceoil (Box/Voice)\; Pat 'Herring' Ahern (Guitar/Bouzouki) and Johnny McCarthy (Fiddle/Flute/Voice).\n\n\n\nFor many years\, The Corner House on Coburg Street has been known as the home of the prime traditional musicians of Cork City. Its hospitality and open-armed welcome have made it the stomping ground for visiting musicians to call and engage with the numerous high-quality sessions that take place on a weekly basis. The coming together of these four musicians amalgamates the Thursday evening session\, a major lure for traditional music enthusiasts with the well-established Wednesday night residency. A highly energetic and entertaining performance full of musical magic and humour can be anticipated.\n\n\n\nUpcoming Behind the Curtain sessions in collaboration with Islander will see musicians performing in their natural habitat throughout our city. From The Corner House Session\, where we reignite the most important local trad session in the city whilst their doors are closed\, to intimate\, evocative live streams from the nooks and crannies of The Everyman herself.\n\n\n\nThe inaugural Behind the Curtain Friday night session is FREE but booking is essential. All that we ask is please donate what you decide when you book your free ticket. All donations from The Corner House Session will go directly towards employing local musicians and artists to develop and present new performances.
