DESCRIPTION:The Southern Region of the Construction Industry Federation\, in conjunction with the Sunday Business Post\, will be hosting a half day conference on Thursday 7th September 2023.\n\n\n\nThe fifth annual CIF Southern Construct Summit 2023 is the must-attend event for the entire construction sector in Cork. You will hear from the contractors\, developers and investors who are seizing the opportunities and bringing forward major exciting projects in the region.\n\nWe are delighted to welcome a wide range of speakers and bring together senior sector leaders\, policy-makers and other stakeholders and will be an excellent opportunity to network with fellow construction stakeholders. Some of the Speakers include:\n\n\n\nEoin McGettigan\, CEO Port of Cork: Eoin has taught on masters\, degree and diploma courses at University College Cork\, the Open University\, the Institute of Project Management and Chartered Accountants Ireland and specialises in business acquisitions\, major strategic change and quality management systems. Inspired by his time studying accounting in his early 20's\, Eoin has authored a textbook designed for the Chartered Accountants Ireland FAE Elective programme.\n\nSince joining the Port of Cork Company\, Eoin has overseen the development of several large-scale projects including the launch of the  89 million Cork Container Terminal and is leading the next phase of growth for the company as it develops its 'Port of Cork Masterplan 2050'. He holds an MBA and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants and is based in Cork with his family. We look forward to hearing Eoin speak about the how the Port Masterplan is adapting to a shifting landscape in port operations and planning its development as a key global port of the future. \n\n\n\nDearbhla Lawson\, Chief Planner\, Head of Strategic Planning\, Land Development Agency: Dearbhla Lawson is Head of Strategic Planning Land Development Agency at the (LDA) Dearbhla leads the LDA's planning\, public lands and sustainability function\, working with partners to optimise public land usage\, build the pipeline and progress plans to regenerate and deliver sustainable development. Dearbhla is also a member of the Housing Commission Land Supply Working Group. Dearbhla will join Eoin McGettigan and Nigel O'Neill from TII on a panel to discuss how agencies are working together to unlock the potential of the lands for new housing\, economic growth and associated services to support the future growth and prosperity of Cork City.\n\n\n\nNigel O'Neill\, Director Capital Programme Management\, Transport Infrastructure Ireland\; Nigel has 30 years' experience in the private and public sectors including civil engineering design\, project management\, public procurement\, strategic transport planning\, Public Private Partnerships (PPP)\, tolling operations and light railway operations. TII's capital programme portfolio encompasses light railways and metro\, national roads\, and greenways. We welcome Nigel's insight into how the focus is now on critical infrastructure to unlock the potential and catalyse the economic growth in support of Cork's ambitions as a key global city and port of the future. \n\n \n\n\n\nElizabeth Hegarty\, Associate Director at Savills Ireland: Elizabeth\, in her role as Associate Director has focused on the Cork Residential Department of Savills Ireland\, predominantly on the sales of new home developments. Since 2012\, Elizabeth has worked in all sectors of the residential business from lettings\, tenant and block management\, resales and New Homes sales. Elizabeth has overseen the successful management and sales of several new homes developments across Cork City and County in recent years through innovative marketing and in-house technology. As part of her presentation Elizabeth will talk about the threats\, opportunities and uncertainties currently within the Cork housing market.\n\n\n\nJim Power\, Economist: Jim has worked as an economist in the private sector for over 35 years. He is owner manager of Jim Power Economics\, an economic and financial consultancy\, which he set up in 2009. Jim will share his knowledge with us and his insight into the role of the construction industry in the future development of the Irish economy.\n\n  \n\nIn addition to the above speakers\, we will be joined by Minister Michael McGrath in advance of the upcoming budget.
