SUMMARY:NEW YORK! ACTION! SLEAZE! James Glickenhaus Double Feature
DESCRIPTION:For one night only\, Triskel Arts Centre presents a double bill of independent action movies filmed on the dirty old streets of pre-gentrified New York City. \n\n \n\nThis year marks the 45th anniversary of THE EXTERMINATOR\, one of the most violent and controversial movies released in 1980. This grisly slice of exploitation cinema from James Glickenhaus\, which features a Vietnam veteran (Robert Ginty) taking the law into his own hands after his best friend is brutally attacked and left paralysed\, will be presented completely uncut as the filmmaker intended. \n\n \n\nAfter the screening of THE EXTERMINATOR\, Senior Lecturer at University of Lincoln Neil Jackson (who has written for such publications as Sight & Sound and Video Watchdog) will join Triskel's Head of Cinema Chris O'Neill to discuss the film\, the 'Namploitation' genre\, and other movies from the director. \n\n \n\nBut that's not all after this discussion\, there will be a screening of another film by James Glickenhaus. BLUE JEAN COP (aka SHAKEDOWN) stars Peter Weller (ROBOCOP) as a lawyer going up against police corruption while trying to clear his client of murder with only one rogue cop (Sam Elliott) willing to back him up. Expect over the top action sequences\, sharp and witty dialogue\, and a gritty urban atmosphere.\n\n \n\n"A wonderful\, dirty little revenge flick." Screen Anarchy \n\n \n\nOne ticket is valid for both films. The running time of the entire event is just over four and a half hours (which includes a 20 minute break).
