SUMMARY:Slade in Flame: Prey for Rock & Roll Season
DESCRIPTION:A fictional tale but all based on true experiences and starring the band Slade as the members of Flame this was a music film like no other. Charting the rise and fall of a pop group at the end of the 1960s from bold beginnings in seedy clubs to booze-addled endings in spectacular stadiums this darkly cynical\, warts-and-all portrait of a band in freefall amidst the music-industry suits who want a piece of the pie was not what anybody was expecting. \n\n \n\n"The CITIZEN KANE of British pop movies." Mark Kermode \n\n \n\nPREY FOR ROCK & ROLL \n\nTo celebrate the British Film Institute's beautiful restoration of SLADE IN FLAME (which celebrates its 50th anniversary this year)\, Triskel Arts Centre presents a season of classic British rock and roll movies from the 1970s. Besides SLADE IN FLAME\, we will also be screening the two 'Jim MacLaine' movies starring David Essex (THAT'LL BE THE DAY and STARDUST) and one of the decade's most notable music-related cult movies: QUADROPHENIA\, which is based on the album of the same name by The Who.
