SUMMARY:Support Ukrainian Filmmakers with a Special Screening of 'Donbass' presented by Cork International Film Festival
DESCRIPTION:Cork International Film Festival is proud to present Cannes award-winning tour-de-force feature Donbass by acclaimed Ukrainian filmmaker Sergei Loznitsa at The Gate Cinema\, Cork at 6.30pm on Thursday\, 7th April with all proceeds going to support Ukrainian filmmakers. The film will be introduced by CIFF Director of Programming Anna Kopeck .\n\nCIFF stands with the Ukrainian people while the terrifying war waged by Russia continues. We\, like many festivals and arts organisations\, wish to support our friends in this region.\n\nAs a longstanding champion of Irish and international filmmakers\, and with the support of our audiences\, we aim to provide practical assistance to the Ukrainian filmmaking community at this time via a support fund created by the Docudays UA International Human Rights Documentary Film Festival in Ukraine - the DOCU/HELP Filmmakers' Fund. \n\nThe DOCU/HELP Filmmakers' Fund is assisting filmmakers who are bravely documenting the events in the war in Ukraine by providing them with the most necessary filming equipment without which it is impossible to continue filming and working. It will also help cover essential support costs\, including the costs of fuel\, medicine and first aid kits\, as well as basic needs in emergency situations.\n\nAll proceeds from the ticket sales of Donbass will be donated to directly support Ukrainian filmmakers during this time through the DOCU/HELP fund. \n\n\n\nTickets: 10.50 (Concessions 9)\n\nIf you would like to add a further donation to your ticket purchase\, you can do so when booking.\n\nAbout the film:\n\nWinner of the Un Certain Regard award for Best Director at the 2018 Cannes Film Festival\, Sergei Loznitsa's antiwar film uses a series of brutally matter-of-fact\, dark comic vignettes to depict the social destabilisation in the titular war-ravaged area of Donbass (or Donbas)\, a region of Eastern Ukraine occupied by various criminal gangs.
