DESCRIPTION:Join us as writers Laura McKenna and  ibhear Walshe discuss their approaches to world-building in historical fiction and biofiction. \n\n \n\nThis event takes place in the tiered Lecture Theatre (ground floor) of Crawford Art Gallery and runs in conjunction with the exhibition OTHER WORLDS: Harry Clarke Watercolours which is open daily until 19 March.\n\n \n\nFree but pre-booking advised | Reserve your place here\n\n \n\nDr Laura McKenna is a writer of fiction and poetry and worked for many years as a child psychiatrist. Her novel Words to Shape My Name (2021) was shortlisted for The Kerry Group Irish Novel of the Year Award and formed the creative element of her PhD in Creative Writing. Her work has been published in The RT  Guide\, Southword\, Banshee\, and New Irish Writing.\n\n \n\nDr  ibhear Walshe is Senior Lecturer in English and Director of Creative Writing at University College Cork. He is the author of novels The Diary of Mary Travers (2014)\, The Trumpet Shall Sound (2019)   both longlisted for the Dublin Literary Award   and The Last Day at Bowen's Court (2020)\, in addition to the memoir Cissie's Abattoir (2009) and books on Kate O'Brien\, Colm T ib n\, and Oscar Wilde.
