About Us

In July 2017 our name changed from “The Girls Club Cork” to “Cork Cancer Care Centre”.

The Cork Cancer Care Centre is located at 26 St. Paul’s Avenue, Cork. This wonderful premises is our official meeting point and ‘home away from home’ where we provide vital support to all those touched by Cancer, their families including free counselling as well as offering a range of complimentary therapies (such as Reiki, Reflexology, access bars, Integrated Energy Therapy, Indian Head Massage, Lymphatic Drainage) and a drop-in centre during the day.
Blankets of Hope Cork
We started by asking the volunteers in the Centre and also families involved in the centre to make and knit squares or Blankets. This initiative started on the 4th of January 2014 and today, October 2020, we have donated over 23,000 blankets right across the country, and in some cases, have been posted worldwide.
How do you get a blanket?
The Blankets of Hope are taken to the Oncology and Radiology Wards in Cork and Kerry, nurses distribute them to Cancer patients. We also distribute them from our Centre at 26 Saint Paul’s Avenue, Cork (Lavitts Quay end). All of our Blankets are delivered to people’s homes and nursing homes, and posted to all requests we receive at our Centre. If you would like more information please phone 0214949090 or email corkcancercarecentre@gmail.com.
The Cork Cancer Care Centre is the only wig bank in Ireland, where you can avail of a free wig, turbans or scarves, which have kindly been donated.
These will be professionally fitted by our wig and hair loss specialist, free of charge.
