Discover Captains and Convicts at Europe's Leading Tourist 2017, Spike Island Cork. This historic island has over 1300 years of rich Irish history. Board the ferry, enjoy the guided tour and experience over a dozen museums, exhibitions and island walking trails. Cafe and gift shop on site. The island history has included a 7th century monastery, an enormous 24 acre 1790's fortress, an island prison on 4 occasions including the one time worlds largest prison, and centuries of island homes.
