Opening of Macroom bypass a big milestone, says Cork Chamber
Cork Chamber, the voice of business in Cork, has welcomed today’s opening by An Taoiseach Micheál Martin and the Mayor of County Cork, Cllr Danny Collins of the N22 Macroom bypass, representing a big milestone for the project.
“It is great to see strategically important infrastructure projects like this progress representing a big milestone for the N22 project, Macroom and the Cork region. Great credit is due to Government, TII, Cork County Council, and all involved in progressing this new road,” said Conor Healy, CEO Cork Chamber.
“The opening of today’s bypass will contribute towards decongesting traffic in Macroom, enhancing the overall attractiveness and quality of life for those living, working in and visiting Macroom town. By facilitating greater connectivity between Cork and Kerry we expect a significant boost for tourism and businesses in the area.”
“We eagerly await the completion of the overall N22 project by 2024. Meanwhile, the delivery of other key transport infrastructure projects committed to in the National Development Plan must also be given full attention, including the Cork Metropolitan Area Transport Strategy, the M28 and N25, to further enhance regional connectivity and allow for the sustainable growth of our city region.”
