Cork Chamber is delighted to welcome tomorrows visit to Cork by Prince Charles and his wife Camilla the Duchess of Cornwall.
Conor Healy, Cork Chamber CEO, commented, “Tomorrow we have two of the most internationally recognisable and influential people visiting our great City and putting a media spotlight on what we offer as a vibrant, cultural and growing City region. The UK market is hugely important to tourism in Cork with a third of all overseas visitors being UK based, supporting jobs, the growth of the cultural, hospitality and services sectors and the overall vitality of the City. This is a hugely welcome visit boosting the profile and expanding the international exposure and awareness of our region to tourism and potential FDI investment.”
Mr. Healy added, ‘The 2011 visit by Queen Elizabeth was tremendous and hugely enjoyable for the City and now with Prince Charles and Camilla visiting, we have the opportunity once again to showcase that uniqueness and character that made such a lasting impression on Queen Elizabeth. Of course with such visits, there will be parking and traffic restrictions in place, which are necessary when a City receives such visitors. These are due to be wrapped up by 2pm and will rotate between areas in the City to accommodate the visit.”
In concluding, Mr. Healy added, ‘The last Royal visit was a great event for the City’s economy increasing visitor numbers across the City and across our cultural hotspots. We are in a very fortunate position as a City region to attract such guests.”
