Along with being the first President of Munster Technological University (MTU) she has held significant advisory roles, including Vice President (Physical Sciences) of the Royal Society of Edinburgh; member of the Scottish Government STEM Strategy Advisory Group; and in 2011 was elected Fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh. Prof Cusack is a current member of Cork Development Forum, Cork Airport Development Council, and IBEC Regional Executive Committee.

Many of MTU’s courses are co-created with industry, and the university places a strong emphasis on innovation and entrepreneurship. At the beginning of this year, MTU received €14.6m in funding under the Technological Universities Research and Innovation Supporting Enterprise (TU RISE) programme which will greatly enhance research and further develop links with industry and local communities.
