That'll be the Day: Prey for Rock & Roll Season

That'll be the Day: Prey for Rock & Roll Season

Jim MacLaine is 18 and studying for his advanced level exams. But he finds his book work increasingly irksome. So much so that he packs a suitcase, hitches a lift to the coast and soon finds a job. While working at a fairground he is invited to a university dance by his old friend Terry. He finds the people there irritating and 'square' and feels sufficiently 'left out' to quit the fairground and return home. Here he again meets Terry's sister Jeanette. They marry and when their first child is born, Jim seems content. But it is not long before he once again walks out in search of freedom and irresponsibility.

“A very special, strange and fascinating movie.” Los Angeles Times

PREY FOR ROCK & ROLL

To celebrate the British Film Institute’s beautiful restoration of SLADE IN FLAME (which celebrates its 50th anniversary this year), Triskel Arts Centre presents a season of classic British rock and roll movies from the 1970s. Besides SLADE IN FLAME, we will also be screening the two ‘Jim MacLaine’ movies starring David Essex (THAT’LL BE THE DAY and STARDUST) and one of the decade’s most notable music-related cult movies: QUADROPHENIA, which is based on the album of the same name by The Who.
