28th Cork French Film Festival brings you a sensational programme with a strong emphasis on contemporary French Cinema, dynamic directing, a wealth of new releases, and a host of up and coming new names from France.
This year we are again extremely honoured to have His Excellency Michael D. Higgins, President of Ireland, as Patron of the Cork French Film Festival.
We are delighted to welcome back our Film Programmer, Julien Planté, who has put together another superb programme to light up the silver screen at the Gate Cinema (Main Venue). Julien, London-based French producer, brings us the best and latest releases from France.
We can look forward to a host of Premieres and Previews, opening with The Odyssey, a visually stunning biopic of Jacques Cousteau’s life.
HIGHLIGHTS
Cork French Film Festival is especially honoured to welcome Yann Arthus-Bertrand, internationally acclaimed Photographer and Director, to present his latest Documentary HUMAN. This remarkable artist and Humanitarian will also give a Masterclass in UCC.
Cork French Film Festival will also welcome Manal Issa, star of Parisienne, on International Womens Day. Her image graces the cover of Festival brochure.
In addition to our film screenings at the Gate Cinema, the Cork French Film Festival continues its enduring link between Food and Cinema, with a number of enticing culinary events.
A sumptuous Candle-lit Dinner is guaranteed at Ballymaloe House, followed by the screening of the delightful Les Saveurs du Palais, based on a true story about President Mitterrand’s personal Chef at the Elysée Palace.
In CIT, all chocolate lovers are in for a treat with an unmissable Demonstration, Tasting and Q&A by French Chocolatier Benoît Lorge, with a film screening afterwards.
A delightful evening at The River Lee, with the screening Red Obsession, followed by Dinner and Wine Pairing.
Don’t miss Cork’s internationally-acclaimed Ray Scannell, who will score and perform a live commissioned work for CFFF, for the silent film L’appel du Sang, at Cork School of Music – Curtis Auditorium.
We welcome you to join us for a fantastique cinematic experience!
