Artist & Curator In Conversation in Triskel Gallery Space
Join artist Fiona Kelly and curator Miguel Amado for an In Conversation on Saturday 22 February at 12pm. This event is free and all are welcome.
Kelly usually cites thinker Michel de Certeau to introduce her practice: ‘stories about places are makeshift things, they are composed of the world’s debris’. She further elaborates that ‘her stories observe the rapid metamorphosis of landscape, both urban and rural, in this epoch of crisis’, and that ‘the idea of a world’s debris’ manifests in the guise of a re-appropriation of ‘materials in a state of rejection: concrete waste from demolition sites, crushed glass, cardboard, plywood, bitumen and limestone dust’.
Fiona Kelly is an artist based in Cork. She studied at CIT Crawford College of Art & Design, Cork. Her work has been shown in museums, galleries and festivals, including Impressions Biennial, Galway; Mermaid Arts Centre, Bray, County Wicklow; Cork Printmakers; 126, Galway; The Glucksman, Cork; Galleria Ratamo, Jyväskylä, Finland; Spike Island, Bristol, England.
Overburden, Kelly's exhibition, is on display until Sunday 29 March 2020.
