Batman: The Fantastical Cinema of Tim Burton

Batman: The Fantastical Cinema of Tim Burton

They don’t know who he really is. They never know where he will appear. But the citizens of Gotham City know they have a protector. He’s the Caped Crusader with an arsenal of amazing weaponry and a repertoire of incredible acrobatics. He’s the legend they call “Batman”. With BATMAN Tim Burton changed how audiences viewed cinematic comic book adaptations with its dark gothic sensibilities and mature approach to the material. A box office smash and a cultural phenomenon when originally released, do not miss seeing BATMAN on the big screen.

“Still puts most modern superhero blockbusters to shame.” Screen Rant

The Fantastical Cinema of Tim Burton

Tim Burton is a filmmaker with a unique cinematic vision in that his films often blend elements of gothic fantasy with whimsy and surrealism. Triskel Arts Centre is delighted to present Burton’s first five feature films, which will be screened over five consecutive Saturday evenings this August: there is madcap comedy with PEE-WEE’S BIG ADVENTURE, the macabre black comedy with the original BEETLEJUICE, the comic book hero adaptations BATMAN and BATMAN RETURNS, and the bittersweet fairytale that is EDWARD SCISSORHANDS.
