Building Resilience: Business Adaptation to Climate Change
The Sustainable Cork Programme (SCP) webinar series is designed to set a vision for a more sustainable and resilient Cork, empowered by a thriving business community.
Join us to explore the crucial role of adaptation in protecting businesses from the harmful impacts of climate change. Adaptation entails adjusting processes, practices, and structures to lessen potential damage arising from extreme weather events linked to climate change. Mitigation and adaptation are inherently linked; as extreme weather events intensify, so does the imperative for adaptation.
The need for businesses to adapt to climate change is unmistakable. As climate change alters regulatory frameworks and business environments, companies must evolve to remain resilient while also championing solutions that foster climate resilience. Recent extreme weather events in Cork have underscored the vulnerability of systems, infrastructure, communities, and industries to climate change and the pressing need for adaptation measures.
These weather-related disasters are forecasted to persist in the future. Therefore, adapting to these impacts and risks is as critical as efforts to reduce our environmental footprint. This webinar will delve into strategies for businesses to bolster their resilience against shifting weather patterns and the necessary infrastructure to effectively implement adaptation measures.
