City & Town Revitalisation – The Future is Now

City & Town Revitalisation – The Future is Now

This session marks the launch of the third year of the Sustainable Cork Programme (SCP) webinar series which is designed to set a vision for a more sustainable and resilient Cork, empowered by a thriving business community.

This event is linked to the Sustainable Development Goal 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities. The conversation is timely - it will share expertise from speakers on the ideas of place-making, place-shaping, public engagement and consultation as an approach to planning, design and management of public spaces that can capitalise on our community's assets, inspiration, and potential.

Drawing on local and international examples, we will share how evidence-based urbanism and co-design of our cities and towns as places for people can address community needs and interests and ultimately, contribute to solving complex urban problems and the realisation of positive results and transformation.

Speakers:

Dr William Hynes is a Chartered Town Planner, Chartered Surveyor, Urban and Regional Economist and Managing Director of KPMG Future Analytics.

Giulia Vallone is a Senior Architect at Capital Projects Implementation Unit CPIU, Cork County Council.

Facilitator: Shane Clarke, CEO at Nano Nagle Place & Director of Operations at The VQ.

The Sustainable Cork Programme Webinar Series is in association with Cork Chamber Skillnet, Gas Networks Ireland and Matheson.
