As proud SDG Ambassadors, designated by the Department of Climate, Energy and the Environment, Cork Chamber continues to embed the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) across all our activities and initiatives. This event supports the broader achievement of the SDGs by promoting credible, transparent and responsible sustainability communications.
This session will highlight the growing importance of communicating sustainability with clarity and credibility in an evolving regulatory landscape. It will explore how businesses can avoid greenwashing in light of the upcoming Green Claims Directive, and how embedding the SDGs can support meaningful climate action and social impact while strengthening audience trust.

Dr. Jamal Miah, Principal Consultant ESG & Sustainability, DNV
Jamal is a sustainability leader with 15 years of experience driving impactful change across industries. His expertise spans the full sustainability spectrum, from navigating complex ESG regulations to designing and implementing strategies for sustainable products, supply chains and operations. At DNV, he co-leads the Green Claims practice across Europe. In this role, he works with a diverse team helping clients develop and substantiate claims, ensuring they are robust and credible. He has worked on several projects covering ecolabels, carbon, circularity, and broader environmental claims.

Susie Horgan is Managing Director of Springboard Communications, a B Corp-certified Irish agency that helps organisations communicate sustainability with clarity and credibility. She partners with C-suite leaders, communications and sustainability teams to develop strong sustainability narratives, grounded in proof points and measurable targets. Susie's work spans story-mining workshops, stakeholder engagement planning, leadership communications training, and integrated campaigns that build understanding internally and trust externally. She is also Vice President of Cork Chamber.

Laura Lahiff, Sustainability Lead, Munster Rugby
Laura Lahiff is Sustainability Lead at Munster Rugby, where she embeds climate action and social impact into operations, fan engagement, and community programmes. She combines practical experience in engineering and environmental policy with a passion for using sport’s cultural influence to reach hearts and minds. Drawing on Munster’s recent experience in balancing clear sustainability storytelling with practical action, Laura demonstrates how organisations can harness cultural power and language to inspire action, influence behaviour, and engage audiences in new ways across a range of topics. Munster Rugby has been designated as SDG Champions (2025 – 2027).

Alicia leads the EU LIFE-funded energy project REEValue, working with Irish and European partners to advance energy efficiency and renewable energy across value chains. She also serves as a central, cross-functional lead for all Chamber sustainability activities, working closely with the senior management team and the Sustainability Committee. Alicia holds a PhD in Environmental Science and was recognised by The Irish Times as one of the "50 People to Watch in 2026" in the Sustainability category.
