Decoding Cancer: Science vs Fiction

Decoding Cancer: Science vs Fiction

Cancer patients, their families, friends and our whole community are vulnerable to misinformation about alternative therapies for cancer that can do more harm than good, the Irish Cancer Society’s Head of Research will tell a Cork audience at this free public talk.

Dr Robert O’Connor will speak at the Irish Cancer Society public talk ‘Decoding Cancer: Science vs Fiction’ at 6:30pm on Thursday, 16 November in Room G10, Brookfield Health Sciences Complex, University College Cork.
At the talk Dr O’Connor will discuss some of the most common myths and misinformation surrounding cancer. Dr Derek Power, Medical Oncologist at the Mercy and Cork University Hospitals, will outline how these myths affect his cancer patients. Cancer survivor Eileen O'Sullivan will also discuss her experience of dealing with 'fake news' as a cancer patient.
