Famous Paintings and their Hidden Histories - Spring 2025

Artist and art teacher Áine Andrews returns with another series of lectures on Famous Paintings and their Hidden Histories. In each lecture, Áine will focus on a particular painting to recount its history, as well as that of the artist and their story.

The lectures can be attended as a series, but are also designed as standalone talks, which can be attended individually.

A Sunday Afternoon on the Grand Jatte by Georges Seurat – Art Institute of Chicago

In a Convent Garden by William Leech – National Gallery of Ireland

River to the Sea 1959 by Norah Mc Guinness – Crawford Gallery Collection

5. Tues 4 March
Vase of Flowers with an Ear of Corn by Rachel Ruysch – National Gallery Dublin

6. Tues 11 March
The Pietà by Michelangelo – St Peter’s Basilica, Rome
