Frankie Gavin, Ireland’s most acclaimed fiddle player, founder of the legendary De Danann, and to be named at the Gradam Awards (TG4, 4 Feb, live from Belfast) as the Irish Traditional Musician of the Year for 2018, brings his brand new band, The Provenance, to the Everyman Theatre for their first ever concert in Cork.
Joining Frankie and the band for a special guest spot will be Cork balladeer extraordinaire Jimmy Crowley.
The Provenance features no less than four fiddle players, with piano and bouzouki accompaniment.
As Frankie says: ‘I’ve always wanted to bring a bunch of brilliant fiddle players together, to basically give an orchestral or heavenly strings touch to traditional Irish music played at a spirited pace. This band of musicians is beyond my expectations. I’m just delighted with the uplifting heart-warming sound.’
