Henry Glassie: Field Work at Triskel Cinema

Henry Glassie: Field Work at Triskel Cinema

Henry Glassie: Field Work (G)

105 mins – Ireland 2019 – Documentary – Dir: Pat Collins
Featuring: Peter Flanagan, Henry Glassie and Daniel Johnston

Henry Glassie is one of the most celebrated folklorists across the world. He has spent the last 50 years making in-depth studies of communities and their art. Inspired by and featuring Glassie – this is an immersive and meditative documentary set among the rituals and rhythms of working artists across Brazil, Turkey, North Carolina and Ireland. Glassie’s subject is folklore but his deep abiding love for the people who create it resonates throughout the film. Henry Glassie: Field Work is the latest picture from Pat Collins, whose earlier works include Silence and Song of Granite which have been screened at Triskel.

“An ode to artists and artisans...Collins begins with scenes that all but resemble raw materials and then the doc slowly, beautifully, reveals a work of art” POV Magazine
