How to Communicate Clearly During Conflict

How to Communicate Clearly During Conflict

For most of us, the word ‘conflict’ sends us into a cold sweat; we’ve all experienced conflict gone wrong.

In this session, we will look at some practical ways of navigating conflict well. This will include what language is helpful, where words can become inflammatory, and how to listen well and communicate yourself clearly.

Ginny Radmall is the Director of The Ivy Way. She works with startups and corporates, equipping companies to communicate their message clearly. She has worked with the likes of Microsoft, Google, Salesforce, IKEA and WeWork. She also coaches startups on accelerator programmes including Google for Startups, Techstars, Startupbootcamp and Dogpatch Labs.
Cherly Richardson says ‘If you avoid a conflict to keep the peace, you start a war inside yourself.’
In this interactive session we will look at the different responses to conflict, how to facilitate a useful dialogue that looks for ways forward and a framework for communicating your thoughts and feelings clearly. Ginny will share practical exercises to help you test strategies for navigating conflict well.

Topics covered will include:

  • Different responses to conflict
  • Why conflict is necessary and how it can be useful
  • Listening technique within conflict
  • Language that is helpful and words that can be inflammatory
  • A framework for articulating yourself clearly
