Attendees at the JAI Breakfast Briefing will hear from the pupils of Glasheen Girls National School who recently participated in the Junior Achievement 'Our World' programme with their business volunteer Siobhan Bowden from Johnson Controls. The students will demonstrate their newly-acquired knowledge in Science Technology Engineering and Maths subjects to the audience. They also learned how technology and communications are critical growth areas in the global marketplace and they actively practiced their newly acquired entrepreneurship skills by developing their own business ideas as part of the programme.
CEO of Junior Achievement Ireland, Helen Raftery said “We at Junior Achievement Ireland truly appreciate the generosity of business leaders in the Cork Region in enabling Junior Achievement to partner with 29 corporate supporters, which provided 436 volunteers, enabling almost 11,000 students to participate in JA programmes and events in 2015/16. In highlighting why JA programmes are so impactful, she advised: “research shows us that helping young people to see the relevance of their academic studies to their everyday lives is a vital factor in persuading them to stay in school and to take maximum advantage of the opportunity that education offers.”

Junior Achievement Ireland:
Junior Achievement Ireland (JAI) works in partnership with our corporate supporters to complement the work of our schools by recruiting, training and managing business volunteers to work with students to inspire and motivate young people to make the most of their education.
Our twin aims are to encourage students to stay in school and to inspire students to maximise the opportunities that their education provides.
In partnership with business and educators, JA activities bring the real world to students, opening their minds to the opportunities available to them.
JAI has a range of innovative high quality Enterprise, Maths, Science, Technology and Employability/ Life skills programmes, which are taught in the classroom by business volunteers from local companies. These positive role models encourage students to plan for their future and give them a link into the world of work.
