Keeping Diversity, Inclusion and Equity on Track in a Hybrid Workplace

Keeping Diversity, Inclusion and Equity on Track in a Hybrid Workplace

The Sustainable Cork Programme (SCP) webinar series is designed to set a vision for a more sustainable and resilient Cork, empowered by a thriving business community.

There is no doubt that remote and hybrid working has come with benefits for individuals, employers, broader society and sustainability. It also has potential to be a driver of diversity, equity and inclusion. In particular, it supports access to roles regardless of location, and underrepresented groups reportedly have a strong desire for hybrid and remote work.

However, evidence indicates that an inclusive work environment does not just happen; it requires sustained effort. As we move beyond the initial shift to remote and hybrid workplaces, companies are facing challenges around both the equity-enhancing and equity-reducing aspects of remote and hybrid work.

This session will enable a robust discussion with experts speakers on DEI. They will share strategies and case studies focused on setting up for success as well as issues to be confronted with hybrid working such as proximity bias, advancement opportunities and promotion, employee engagement and retention, unconscious bias, unintended consequences in processes and the benefits of remote and hybrid working to some demographics more than others.

Speakers:
Geraldine Carr, Matheson Partner in the Employment, Pensions and Benefits Group - Geraldine provides strategic, practical and commercially focused advice to international and domestic clients.

Joanne Mangan, Employers Lead, Grow Remote - Joanne manages partnerships with Ireland’s leading remote-first organisations and helps employers who want to make the transition to remote.

Terri Moloney,
Non-Executive Director/Independent Consultant - Employee Success

Facilitator: Siobhan Kangataran, Equality, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) Manager at Munster Technological University.
