MARY & ME
Ireland 1986. A teenage girl begins a series of conversations with a statue of the Virgin Mary in a grotto.
Inspired by a true story, Mary and Me is a compellingly original imagining of a young woman’s search for understanding and meaning when at a milestone in her life.
It is also a rich and funny evocation of the Ireland of the 1980’s, while it also has a sharp contemporary resonance in respect of the current 8th Amendment debate.
Following the play’s acclaimed appearances at the Edinburgh and Brighton festivals, Irene Kelleher now brings it back home to Cork city.
“A moving new play with a fantastic performance by Kelleher, who also marks herself out as a writer to watch” The Stage
“Not only is Irene Kelleher a brilliant performer, she is also an exceptionally gifted writer”Broadway Baby
“Riveting……you could not pray to find a better show in this Edinburgh Festival” The Edinburgh Guide 2017
