Peadar Lamb | Arboreal Apertures

An exhibition by Peadar Lamb at Lavit Gallery, held over four days, featuring the workings behind the public art commission Arboreal Apertures including process-based drawings and research as well as a documentary film on the creation of this artwork. 

Peadar Lamb was commissioned by Cork County Council to create fifteen stained glass works for a new social housing development in Carrigaline, County Cork. Though each piece is unique, the work is compositionally connected. The work 'Arboreal Apertures' is based on our native Irish trees, the Ogham tree alphabet and memory held in the landscape. These new works were made between the artist's studio and the National Sculpture Factory. This commission was managed by Cork County Council’s Arts Office.

Peadar Lamb, a Dublin born artist, works primarily in stained glass. He has completed several large-scale commissions including examples at the Mater hospital, Dublin Zoo and the Irish Repertory Theatre in Manhattan, New York. He has exhibited extensively both nationally and internationally, delivered masterclasses at the National Sculpture Factory and the Corning Museum of Glass in New York.  He has work in both private and public collections including the OPW, the National Museum of Ireland and internationally in Europe, The Middle East, Japan, China & the USA. Lamb has been awarded a number of public art commissions. He is presently working on a sculptural stained glass public art commission due for completion in 2025. Lamb has just returned from a month-long residency at The Studio, Corning, New York in September 2024. Lamb lives and works in Cork city.
