As part of its Autumn portfolio, ACE UCC is offering the 8-week course ‘Re-Imagining the Media’.
The course will explore the new ways stories are being created, produced and experienced using interactive, immersive and participatory methods. Virtual Reality, user-generated content, collaborative storytelling, transmedia marketing are some of the topics being covered.
This is a unique offering in Cork city and will be delivered by Dr. Laura Aguiar, who has worked in journalism, filmmaking and marketing in Brazil, Sweden and Ireland.
In each class, students will examine closely a selection of projects from around the world, explore key design elements, and discuss questions on aesthetics, usability, ethics and socio-politics. At the end of the course, they will be equipped with skills and knowledge to produce their own interactive stories as well as be in a better position to critically analyse media texts.
The discussions will suit those working with journalism, filmmaking, marketing and exhibition. Classes start on 27 September, 7-9pm. To maximise learning outcomes, participants are asked to bring their own laptops and tablets. For details and Bookings.
