The Prometheus Project: Wellness and The Opportunist
The Prometheus Project, by the award-winning Irish choreographer Luke Murphy - Attic Projects, is a series of distinct but interconnected performance installations, which Murphy and his team have been developing and presenting over the last several years. Adapting the classic story of Prometheus, the god who gave fire to humans, and anticipating the crucial moment when Zeus took it away, this series introduces us, one by one, to a community of people preparing to lose power.
Murphy presents two chapters of The Prometheus Project at Dance Cork Firkin Crane this summer: solos The Opportunist and Wellness, performed by renowned dance artists Stephanie Crousillat and Eric Jackson Bradley respectively. Audiences will experience both chapters as part of the performance ticket.
Luke Murphy is an Irish writer, director, choreographer, and performer working at the intersection of theatre and dance. In 2015 he founded the company Attic Projects, which serves as an incubator, facilitator, and producer of his work. Spanning stage, film, installation, and site-specific/immersive contexts, Attic Projects creates pieces rooted in a visceral physical language that uncovers the universal within the deeply personal. Murphy has created and produced more than 12 dance theatre works that have been presented throughout Ireland, the US, the UK, Germany, Australia, and Hong Kong. His most recent productions include the multi-awardwinning Volcano and Scorched Earth.
He lives in Cobh, County Cork, Ireland, and is currently Cork City Dance Artist in Residence at Dance Cork Firkin Crane.
