Without from Within: Contemporary Experimental Shorts (NC) [Phantoscope]

Without from Within: Contemporary Experimental Shorts (NC) [Phantoscope]

80 mins – Ireland/France/USA – 2018-2021 – Dir: Various
Starring: Katie O’Neill, Shelly Kamiel, Aisling O Connell and Natasha Bourke

Without from Within is the first Phantoscope event since Triskel Christchurch Cinema reopened after lockdown. It brings together a captivating series of very personal films by contemporary artists working in experimental moving image. Katie O’Neill’s description of the theme of her film Message Green might stand for all the diverse visions that make up the programme: “the necessity of solitude, and the importance of being in touch with one’s inner voice.” In engaging with these ‘inner voices’, the filmmakers summon new dreams, new myths, new bodies and new freedoms. Solitary Visions features work by Natasha Bourke, Calypso Debrot, Shelly Kamiel, Sarah Ellen Lundy, Aisling O Connell, Katie Gerardine O’Neill and Atoosa Pour Hosseini.

- Maximilian Le Cain (Phantoscope Programmer)

The December 2nd screening will be followed by a filmmaker Q&A (participants TBC)
