Leading Cork Legal Firm Announces Expansion Plans

J.W. O’Donovan LLP, a leading Cork-based legal firm established in 1931, has announced ambitious growth plans, including the relocation of their offices to the prestigious 27 South Mall. This expansion reflects the firm’s ongoing commitment to supporting clients across Cork and beyond.

With nearly a century of service, J.W. O’Donovan has been a cornerstone in the commercial and legal life of Cork city and county, advising state bodies, local authorities, Irish and multinational businesses, financial institutions, large property developers, charities, and community organisations.

As part of its growth plan, J.W. O’Donovan has invested in state-of-the-art office facilities and has launched a recruitment drive, including four new appointments, with plans to grow the workforce further over the next 5 years. This move signals the firm’s readiness and commitment to support its existing client base and an increased demand, and to continue offering best-in-class legal services.

Managing Partner Jerome O’Sullivan commented on the firm’s recent challenges and optimism for the future:
Some sectors have flourished in recent years and others have experienced challenges and slowdowns. Such peaks and troughs are part of the everyday business environment in which we and each of our clients operate and represent just one of the challenges which the firm has managed to take in its stride for nearly 100 years.   We have always maintained a strong commercial presence and are  fully committed to supporting and growing with our clients into the future.”

AnneMarie Lenihan, partner at J.W. O’Donovan and board member of Cork Chamber, expressed excitement about Cork’s buoyant legal and business sectors,
Cork’s legal market has shown great resilience, both commercially and residentially, even during times of slow economic growth. Right now, we’re experiencing a vibrancy that supports our expansion. The regeneration of historic city areas like South Mall, Navigation Square, and Horgan’s Quay is driving Cork’s dynamic economy forward.”

A new location
The new offices at 27 South Mall were designed by Cook Architects, with an emphasis on optimising space, light, and adaptability for the firm’s continued growth.
At the official opening of the new offices, Managing Partner Jerome O’Sullivan emphasised the firm’s legacy:
It is a testament to everyone who has contributed to J.W. O’Donovan since 1931 that we stand here today as a leading legal firm, continuing to meet the diverse needs of our clients both locally and internationally. We are proud of our history and excited for the future as we expand our presence and capabilities.”

J.W. O’Donovan remains a key player in Cork’s legal landscape, with strong growth plans set to further solidify its reputation as a trusted partner for clients across Ireland and abroad.
