Long-haul travel expert JP Griffin launches own business with Travel Counsellors

Travel Counsellors Ireland, the premium leisure and corporate travel specialists, has welcomed John Paul (JP) Griffin as an independent Travel Counsellor, bringing over 20 years’ industry experience.

JP’s career has spanned travel consultancy and management, most recently as a general manager in the travel industry. Specialising in tailor-made travel, he designs personalised holidays ranging from family trips and honeymoons to long-haul adventures and wildlife experiences.

Commenting on starting his own business with Travel Counsellors, Cork-based JP Griffin said: “I’ve long admired Travel Counsellors and the personal service its business owners offer. After 18 years with one company, I’m excited to bring my experience to a business of my own. Travel Counsellors was a natural choice for me. Its travel partnerships, booking technology and global community give me access to everything I need to create great holidays for my clients, alongside the freedom to build and grow my own business.”

JP began his career in 2003, spending three years working in retail roles aboard cruise ships and sailing around the world before moving into travel consultancy. He has visited every continent, including both polar regions, with experiences ranging from overland camping and high-altitude trekking to cruising and luxury holidays. His particular interest in wildlife has taken him gorilla trekking in Rwanda, to Antarctica to see penguins and to the Indian Himalayas in search of snow leopards.

JP joins more than 80 independent Travel Counsellors in Ireland and a global community of almost 2,500 across six countries. As an independent business owner, he will have access to the company’s booking technology, travel partners, training and dedicated business support. The company is fully licensed and bonded with the Irish Aviation Authority (IAA).

Cathy Burke, Managing Director at Travel Counsellors Ireland, said: “JP brings years of experience helping people plan their holidays, alongside first-hand knowledge of destinations around the world. We’re delighted he has chosen to build his own business with Travel Counsellors. Our role is to give experienced professionals like JP the tools, partnerships and support to build their own businesses and deliver the personal service they’re known for.”
