Why Can't Buying Business Electricity Be as Easy as Shopping Online?

Cork based entrepreneur launches Flibire, a new digital platform designed to take the confusion out of business electricity comparisons.

Buying almost anything online has become remarkably straightforward. We can compare prices, review our options and make informed decisions in minutes. Yet when it comes to buying electricity for a business, the process can still involve phone calls, competing quotations, complicated discounts and uncertainty about whether we've secured the right deal.

Cork entrepreneur Ger Mack believes it doesn't have to be this way.

Having worked in the Irish energy industry, Ger saw first hand how difficult it could be for business owners to navigate electricity contracts. The problem wasn't necessarily a lack of choice. It was the time, effort and specialist knowledge required to make sense of that choice.

That experience led to the creation of Flibire, an Irish business electricity comparison platform built around one simple idea: why shouldn't businesses be able to shop for electricity as easily as they shop for anything else online?

Your bill. Your options. Your decision.

Flibire allows businesses to upload a photograph or PDF of their electricity bill. The platform extracts the relevant information and compares it against available supplier rate cards, presenting suitable options with clear, indicative contract costs.

Rather than relying on headline discounts or lengthy sales conversations, business owners can see how the offers compare and decide what works best for them.

And importantly, they remain in control.

They can approach a supplier directly, ask their existing broker to secure an offer, or request assistance from Flibire with the switching process. They can even choose to do nothing.

There is no obligation to switch.

Taking the pressure out of electricity renewals

"Most business owners don't want to become energy experts," says Ger. "They want to run their businesses. They want to know they're getting a competitive rate, understand what they're signing up for and get on with their day."

"That's what we're trying to change. We've built the technology to do the heavy lifting, so the customer doesn't have to."

Flibire's longer-term vision goes beyond comparison. By helping businesses manage future contract renewals, the platform aims to prevent customers from unintentionally slipping onto out-of-contract electricity rates.

For Ger, the ambition is straightforward: give Irish businesses the information, confidence and freedom to make their own decisions.

Flibire, hard to say, easy to use.
