Perigus Energy bolsters European leadership team with new independent Chairperson and senior management appointments
Perigus Energy (formerly Ørsted onshore Europe) has today announced Tom O’Brien as its new independent chair and non-executive director following appointment by its board of directors.
A veteran of the renewables sector, Tom O’Brien retired as Managing Partner of Brookfield Asset Management at the end of March 2025 where he was responsible for developing and leading the European renewable business as CEO. Since retirement, Tom has continued to contribute as a senior adviser and consultant, providing strategic guidance, governance oversight, and specialist expertise to organisations across the sector.
To further strengthen the strategic management team, Perigus Energy also confirms the promotion of Eamonn Boland into a newly created role of Chief Commercial Officer, while Declan McCarthy has joined the company as Chief Financial Officer. Both appointments will be based in Perigus Energy’s Cork headquarters.

Today, its portfolio delivers 668 MW of clean, home-grown and reliable electricity across Europe, with three further projects currently under construction in Ireland and Germany.
Acquired in May 2026 by Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners from Ørsted, Perigus Energy’s total operational and under-construction capacity is 826 MW.
