Saturday Lunchtime Concerts Are Back at Triskel for Autumn 2025
Saturday Lunchtime Concerts Are Back at Triskel
Classical music has been proven to improve memory, reduce stress and boost overall mental wellbeing. Even more reasons to attend Triskel’s series of lunchtime classical music concerts. They have just announced their autumn series of concerts, which includes four concerts in the Spotlight Chamber Music Series, which is curated by Aoife Burke, and four string quartets from the National String Quartet Foundation. The concerts begin on Saturday 6 September with the first of the Spotlight concerts. The Gealán Quartet kicks off the Autumn String Quartet Series on Saturday 13 September. Tickets from €10.50 are on sale now from www.triskelartscentre.ie
The Spotlight Chamber Music Series is based on the principle of bringing together some of Ireland’s most dynamic and distinguished musicians to play with one another in small ensembles. Speaking of the first concert in the series, Aoife Burke, cellist and Cork native, said, “This concert, given by Kevin Jansson, an exceptional young Irish artist, on solo piano, promises to be unmissable.”
The remaining concerts in the Spotlight series feature wind and string instrumentalists, and pianists, performing works by Sam Perkin, Arnold Bax, Brahms and more. The final concert will feature one of the seminal chamber music masterpieces of the 20th Century: Quatuor pour la fin du temps (Quartet for the End of Time). This was created by French composer Olivier Messiaen in a prisoner-of-war camp during the early days of World War II, using the instruments and players available to him.
Chris Marwood, Artistic Director of the National String Quartet Foundation, said, “The Autumn series offers a platform to both emerging and established Irish musicians and composers and draws a strong and loyal following from audiences of all ages.”
Other quartets in the series are the Ora, Solas and Ficino who will perform pieces by Marja Gaynor, Beethoven, Florence Price and more in the surroundings of Triskel Christchurch.
For those who need a more immediate classical music fix, the Raja Quartet will perform in Triskel on Saturday 9 August as part of the NSQF summer tour.
Tickets for all concerts are available via www.triskelartscentre.ie or by phoning 021-4272022.
