SE Systems to host free Sustainable Sporting Summit for Munster clubs, with €15,000 in prizes

SE Systems, a Cork-founded energy company, is inviting sporting clubs and community organisations across Munster to a free one-day summit at SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh on Saturday 19 September. The Sustainable Sporting Summit brings together clubs, community organisations, funders and sustainability experts to look at practical ways to reduce energy costs and improve club facilities, and will be MC'd by broadcaster Marty Morrissey.

The event is free to attend, and is aimed at those who make decisions about club buildings and bills, including club chairs, secretaries, treasurers, facilities officers and development committee members. It is open to clubs of all sports and sizes. Three prizes worth €15,000 in total will be drawn live on stage on the day: €10,000 towards an energy project at a club or community facility, €5,000 towards an energy project, or a free professional energy audit worth approximately €3,000. Clubs that do not own their premises are still eligible to win and can put the prize towards a project at their facility. Every registered club receives one entry into the draw, and a representative must be present for the draw to take place.

Alongside talks beginning at 10am, including a panel of clubs who have already completed energy upgrades, engineers and grant specialists will run free one-to-one clinics on the exhibition floor, with clubs encouraged to bring a recent electricity bill for tailored advice. Around 12 organisations will exhibit on the day, including SEAI, Community Finance Ireland, PTSB, Cork County PPN, Grow Ireland, McSherry Lighting and Platinum Energy.

Emma Walker, Communities Project Coordinator at SE Systems, commented, "Every club we talk to has the same story. They know the clubhouse is costing them a fortune to heat, they know there is funding out there somewhere, but they have no spare Tuesday night to sit down and work out how to connect the dots. That is the whole purpose of this event. Come and meet us, bring your bills, and leave with a clear idea of how to get started."

Jake O'Connell, Commercial Director at SE Systems, added, "We work with clubs because the projects are worth doing and because they are genuinely difficult to get off the ground. A club that gets its lighting and heating right frees up money every year for the thing it exists to do. We would rather be in the room helping fifteen clubs work that out than sending fifteen quotes into inboxes."
