Disability Awareness Training

With our compliments, AbilityWise are proud to present a Disability Awareness Training workshop free of charge to not-for-profit organisations and clubs on Saturday 30th September 2023, from 10am to 3pm in Griffith College Cork.

AbilityWise are passionate about promoting awareness of inclusivity and cultivating positive attitudes towards disabilities within every sector of society and therefore encourage attendance from all not-for-profit organisations and clubs.

With keynote speakers from people with first hand experience of living with disabilities such as Physical Disabilities, Mental Health difficulties, Deafness, Neurodiversity and Chronic illnesses as well as practical advice on disability inclusive practices including appropriate language, it will be invaluable training for any organisation.

Training not only ensures that attendees are up to date and familiar with relevant etiquette pertaining to the disability community, it also encourages attendees to question misconceptions while reflecting and evaluating their own practices of inclusion. Training enhances staff and volunteer wellbeing and encourages disclosure of disabilities from staff and volunteers to management. By identifying misconceptions and promoting a respectful and inclusive environment, attendees will gain necessary skills and confidence when interacting with colleagues and service users who have a disability. Promoting equality through our training eliminates discrimination and creates an open and welcoming environment.
