Through a structured, facilitated workshop, you’ll contribute to designing a clear, placement model that works for industry, including scope, supports, and expected outcomes. Have your say in how these placements are designed, help shape how doctoral research talent can work with industry and explore how hosting a researcher could work for your organisation.
Part 1: (10.30am -1pm, beginning with refreshments and networking)How might we design doctoral placements that genuinely work, are consistent, valuable, and sustainable for researchers, supervisors, and host organisations? This interactive workshop brings together researchers, industry partners, and academic leaders to co-design a model for high-quality doctoral placements. Through real examples, structured collaboration, and shared insight, participants will explore what “good” looks like from every perspective and work towards a practical, repeatable placement framework that delivers value for all.
Part 2: (1pm - 3pm) Celebrating the ideas, ambition, and impact shaping the next generation of doctoral research. Following the morning’s collaborative workshop, join us for a relaxed lunch and the Postgraduate Research Writing Competition Prizegiving. This showcase highlights outstanding emerging researchers, their writing and excellence, while sparking new connections between academia and industry. A chance to celebrate achievement, share ideas, and continue the conversation.
