Shakespeare's Macbeth at the Ballymaloe Grainstore

Shakespeare's Macbeth at the Ballymaloe Grainstore

Shakespeare in the Grainstore: Macbeth

‍We are delighted to welcome the acclaimed Cork Shakespearean company to the Ballymaloe Grainstore this February with a brand-new production of Macbeth, this year’s Leaving Certificate play. Known for their dynamic, accessible interpretations, the company brings the tragedy to life with sharp clarity, strong performances, and atmospheric staging — making it ideal for students and theatre-goers alike.

Presented on our intimate Grainstore stage, this production offers an engaging, up-close experience of one of Shakespeare’s most thrilling works, exploring ambition, guilt, and the supernatural in a way that connects directly with today’s audiences.

Join us for an unforgettable evening of live theatre and a perfect opportunity for students preparing for their exams.

The Cork Shakespearean Company

The Cork Shakespearean Company, also known as "The Loft". Founded in 1924 by Fr Christopher O'Flynn. The theatre, up to the year 2000 was based out of the upper floor in Linehan's sweet factory John Redmond Street which is why it gained the moniker "The Loft". Since its inception, the group has put on a variety of Shakespeare's works in various theatres in the city including the Cork Opera House and the Everyman Theatre.
