Crann's Walk n’Roll is back for 2025

Crann has launched its fifth annual Walk n’Roll, which is set to take place next month.

Walk n’Roll is Crann’s most important fundraiser with more than €110,000 raised over the last four years and we’re asking you to help us reach this year’s target of €50,000 by doing 5k Your Way between Thursday, June 12th and Sunday, June 15th. On Saturday, June 14th the Crann Centre will open its gates to welcome client families to walk, roll, push or pedal The Final 1K.

Alison Lynch’s son, Oliver, has been availing of services provided by the Crann Centre and she says the difference it has made to both his life and the entire family is invaluable. She’s encouraging people to support the Walk n’Roll campaign in whatever way they can.

“No one thinks of the effect a disability can have on the entire family but the Crann Centre provides services for the whole unit. And it is a huge support to know there is always someone on the other end of the phone if you need to talk to them about anything. All you have to do is look at the happiness in Oliver to know the services are invaluable. He enjoys coming here, it’s a safe place. Walk n’Roll is a small walk and can be carried out anywhere in any way you can and it makes a huge difference to so many families.”

Boston Scientific has come on board as our Walk n’Roll campaign partner for the next three years. The company’s commitment will include staff volunteer time to support activities including The Final 1K. Boston Scientific will also donate €30,000 over three years, guaranteeing Walk n’Roll in the Crann Centre’s fundraising calendar.

Cork City FC striker Ruairí Keating has been confirmed as this year’s ambassador. He’s calling on supporters to get behind the event and raise the much needed funds to maintain the services provided by the charity.

He said: “I have seen first hand the work that is carried out by the team at the Crann Centre and they are continuing to provide vital support to hundreds of families from Cork and across the Munster region. People can get together with friends or colleagues on their lunch break and go for a 5k run, walk or cycle and help raise funds for this incredible charity.”

Cork City FC will hold a bucket collection for Walk n’Roll at Turner’s Cross when they host Bohemians on Friday, June 13th.

Padraig Mallon, Chief Executive of Crann said: “I really encourage people to get behind the Crann Centre’s Walk n’Roll campaign. This is our fifth year running the event and all the money raised will go towards providing services for children, adults and families living with neuro-physical disabilities right here in Cork. It will make a huge difference to us in terms of planning services for today, tomorrow and into the future.”
