NBM Group announces leadership transition as Michael Galvin steps back after 40 years.

National Business Machines Group (NBM Group), one of Ireland’s leading providers of workplace technology and IT solutions, today announced that Michael Galvin is stepping back as Managing Director after 40 years at the helm and taking on a new role as Chairman of NBM Group.

He will be succeeded by Mark McPhillips, who will lead the company into its next phase of growth and innovation as CEO. Additionally, Niamh Galvin, Michael’s daughter, will take on the role of Commercial Director, continuing the family’s legacy within the business.

Michael Galvin founded NBM in 1985, growing it from a small enterprise into the largest Xerox Premier Partner in Ireland, with a strong reputation for delivering cutting-edge workplace technology and managed IT services. Michael will remain Chairman of NBM Group and help to drive NBM Group strategy forward.

Under his leadership, NBM expanded its national footprint, recently acquiring Total Office Solutions, North East Ltd (TOS NE Ltd) and establishing Innovative Workplace Solutions Ltd (IWS) in Northern Ireland. The company has also invested significantly in new technologies such as AV solutions and a workplace supplies eCommerce platform.

Reflecting on his tenure, Michael Galvin said:
“Leading NBM Group for the past four decades has been a tremendous journey. We started with 1 employee and a vision to provide businesses in Ireland with top-class workplace solutions, and I am proud of what we have built with over 40 employees and a nationwide infrastructure.

“Now is the right time to step back and entrust the future of the company to Mark McPhillips who will continue our tradition of excellence, innovation, and customer-first service. I am also delighted that my daughter Niamh will be playing a pivotal role in shaping NBM’s commercial strategy for the years to come,” he concluded.

Speaking following his appointment, he said:
“I am honoured to step into this role and build on the incredible foundation that Michael and the team has laid. It’s an exciting time for our business in Ireland as we look to grow and expand through providing our clients with new services and new capabilities including Audio-Visual and managed IT solutions. As Commercial Director, Niamh Galvin will take responsibility for developing and driving growth within these new capabilities, said Mark McPhillips.

NBM Group’s recent expansion efforts include a €1M investment into its infrastructure with a strategic focus on digital transformation, and the doubling of its workforce. The company has plans to double in size over the next 4 years. With the leadership transition, the company is poised to build upon its strong legacy while adapting to the ever-changing needs of modern businesses.
